Dr. Peter Forgach is a board-certified retinal specialist and the founder of our practice—originally established as Amherst Retina. He is a respected leader in retinal care throughout Western New York and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Originally born in Hungary and raised in Buffalo, Dr. Forgach is a graduate of Calasanctius High School and maintains strong ties to both his hometown and heritage. He serves as the Honorary Consul of Hungary to the United States and has dedicated much of his time to supporting international education.
In the 1990s, he helped Hungarian students obtain scholarships to study in the U.S. through a program that grew into the Stephen Gerencser Calasanctius Fund, which he co-founded. Over 150 Hungarian and Eastern European students have since benefited from postgraduate education and experience in the U.S. through his efforts.
